The RULER community wants to hear from you!
The Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence is hosting our 2025 RULER Implementation Conference, “The Power of Emotion Regulation for Leaders, Teachers, and Learners” on October 27th-28th in New Haven, CT.
Lead an engaging and interactive workshop on the emotion regulation strategies you use in your school community. Present what’s worked for you – lessons learned, best practices in skill development or assessment, or actual classroom or staff development activities, give your colleagues practical, easy-to-use takeaways they can bring back to their schools immediately!
Ready to share? Whether you are a first-time or a seasoned presenter, we welcome your submission! Please read this page carefully before you begin work on your proposal. The submission deadline is March 28, 2025.

March 3, 2025: Registration for all attendees opens
March 28, 2025: Proposal submission deadline
May 16, 2025: Acceptance notifications sent by this date
May 30, 2025: Presenter acceptance and registration confirmed
August 25, 2025: Session presentation and resources submission deadline
October 27-28, 2025: RULER Implementation Conference in New Haven, CT
End of November: Virtual event access begins
Proposals are selected to ensure the conference offers a comprehensive, objective, and diverse program. Proposals that clearly describe innovative and creative work will receive the highest priority in the selection process. Attention will be given to diversity of schools/districts and geographic location. Proposals will be reviewed by the Conference Program Committee using the following selection criteria:
- Relevance of Topic: Is the topic of relevance, importance, value, and/or interest to RULER educators?
- Session Outcomes Achievability: Is there alignment between the stated session outcomes and the proposal description?
- Quality of Submission: Does the proposal demonstrate quality, as measured by accuracy, clarity, comprehensiveness, and depth of demonstrated understanding of the topic?
- Engagement/Knowledge Transfer: Does the proposal provoke discussion, audience engagement, and/or facilitate knowledge transfer and development of new competency?
All sessions will be a 60-minute learning experience with a high level of engagement, practical application, and explicit opportunities for session attendees to apply the work in their schools or districts.
Guidelines for Submission
By submitting a proposal, you agree to the Guidelines for Submission. Please contact the RULER Conference speaker liaison, Tangular Irby (tangular.irby@yale.edu), should you have any questions.
Please review all details below before submitting:
- Subscription Requirement:
- A current RULER Subscription or training package is required to submit a proposal and present. Please ensure that your school’s subscription status is active. You may email rulersubscription@yale.edu for assistance.
- Presenter Registration:
- All accepted presenters will receive up to 60% off registration if registered with the provided promo code (this will be communicated to presenters upon acceptance by the speaker liaison) by May 30, 2025. After this date, regular rates will apply.
- Maximum of two (2) presenters can apply from each school or district (per submission).
- Presenter Travel, Lodging, and Materials:
- RULER 2025 will not cover any additional costs such as travel and lodging expenses, or other presentation materials.
- Presenter Commitment:
- Please only list presenters who have agreed to participate.
- Acceptance notifications will be sent May 16, 2025.
- All selected presenters must confirm their participation and register by May 30, 2025. A maximum of 2 presenters can apply from each school or district (per submission).
- All presenters must agree to the recording of their session. Recordings will be utilized as part of the virtual component to this conference at the end of November 2025.
- Presentation Content:
- The Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence Team reserves the right to edit session materials, presentation titles, and/or the session abstract for program publications. Proposal titles and abstracts cannot be changed after the review and selection process.
- Session Resources:
- Presenters will be required to upload their presentation, supporting materials, and resources by August 25, 2025.
- If your proposal is selected, you will be provided with further instructions on uploading your presentation materials.
- Session resources will be posted for attendees to access beyond the session.
